In the final match, the world's sixth-ranked pair challenged Chen Qing Chen / Jia Yi Fan from China. Playing at Musashino Forest Plaza, Tokyo, Japan, Monday (2/8/2021), Greysia/Apriyani won two straight games 21-19, 21-15. Greysia/Apriyani's steps towards winning started with a 3-1 advantage in the first game after a tight rally. Greysia/Apriyani then managed to widen the lead to 7-3. Chen/Jia briefly cut the distance to 7-9, but Greysia/Apriyani finally closed the interval with an 11-8 advantage. After the interval, Jia's racket almost hit his partner's head when it hit Chen's racket. They were apparently scrambling to hit the shuttlecock from the Indonesian pair. The incident that occurred when the numbers were balanced at 11-11 caused Chen's recket to finally be damaged. Jia was forced to replace her racket with a new one. The incident also brought the Indonesian pair ahead 12-11. After that, the Indonesian pair again managed to lead 14-12 and then widen the distance to 16-12. Once overtaken, Greysia / Apriyani were then able to get point by point, making them move away again 19-14.

Entering the critical points in the first game, Chen / Jia were actually able to reduce the position to 18-20. However, Greysia/Apriyani finally managed to finish the first game with a 21-19 victory after winning a tight rally. In the second game, Greysia / Apriyani immediately stepped on the gas by winning number by point until they were able to lead 6-2. They then continued to maintain the advantage until finally managed to close the interval with an 11-7 advantage. The two pairs then took turns getting points before Greysia/Apriyani drifted further away at 17-9. Chen / Jia had time to catch up by getting consecutive numbers to make the position 14-20.

However, a blow that was too wide from Chen / Jia made Greysia / Apriyani finally win by 21-15. A unique drama happened before Greysia and Apriyani closed the second game. In the midst of attacking each other in the position of 19-10 points, Greysia had time to change her racket. Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu bite the gold medal after winning over the Chinese pair in the women's doubles badminton final at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. This victory made Greysia/Apriyani managed to donate the first gold medal for Indonesia at the Tokyo Olympics.
